Welding Engineer

Position: Welding Engineers Location: Sohar - Oman Benefits: Salary + FAT + Other benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) , Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) , and Welder Qualification Records (WQTR/WPQ) .
• Monitor and control welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards (ASME, AWS, API, ISO, EN, etc.).
• Provide technical support and guidance to welders, supervisors, inspectors, and project teams.
• Evaluate welding techniques, materials, consumables, and equipment for suitability and efficiency.
• Investigate welding defects, failures, and non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Quality Control (QC), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and production teams.
• Review engineering drawings, material specifications, and fabrication requirements.
• Ensure proper implementation of welding procedures and heat treatment requirements.
• Conduct welding procedure qualification tests and welder performance qualification tests.
• Monitor productivity, welding parameters, consumable usage, and project schedules.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, welding documentation, and inspection records.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering , Welding Engineering , Metallurgical Engineering, or Diploma.
• Professional certifications such as: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) (preferred) International Welding Engineer (IWE) (preferred) CSWIP 3.1/3.2 (advantageous)
• 5-10+ years of experience in welding engineering, fabrication, construction, or oil & gas projects.
• Experience in pressure vessels, pipelines, structural steel, tanks, or process piping projects.
• Familiarity with EPC projects and quality management systems.
