What they need

MIG Welder / Fabricator

Allen Custom Drills is looking for an experienced MIG Welder/Fabricator to join their production team in Ashburton.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be working across light to heavy steel fabrication, building components that ultimately become world-class Air Seeder Drills.

We’re looking for someone who knows their way around a workshop, can read drawings, takes pride in getting things right and enjoys being part of a team where everyone gets stuck in.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • MIG welding across steel from approximately 3mm to 25mm
  • Preparing and fabricating components and sub-assemblies
  • Reading CAD drawings and working accurately to measurements
  • Fit-up and test-fitting components as part of the build process
  • Operating workshop equipment including presses, lathes and saws
  • Carrying out material checks, quality checks and final testing
  • Working safely and following established production procedures
  • Pitching in across production when needed to keep things moving

What We’re Looking For

Ideally, you’ll have at least two years’ MIG welding experience and be confident working across both light and heavier fabrication.

Formal welding qualifications or tickets would be great, but they’re not essential. What matters most is that you can do the job well and take pride in the quality of your work.

You’ll also need to be:

  • Confident reading CAD drawings and fabrication plans
  • Accurate and able to work to measurements
  • Reliable and proactive
  • Safety conscious
  • A good communicator
  • Comfortable working as part of a practical, hands-on team
  • Someone who takes responsibility for their work and does the right thing, even when no one is watching

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive pay based on your experience
  • Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm
  • Supportive and down-to-earth team
  • Opportunities to grow and develop
  • Immediate and flexible start dates available
  • A great Mid Canterbury lifestyle

Applications will be reviewed as they come in, and interviews will be happening throughout the process, so don’t wait until the closing date to apply.
