Welding Inspector

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Welding Inspector to join our project site team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and monitoring all welding activities, including piping and pipeline welding works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, welding codes, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor all welding activities, including piping and pipeline welding works, to ensure compliance with approved WPS, drawings, and project specifications
• Verify welder qualifications, WPQ validity, and welding parameters before work starts
• Perform visual inspection (VT) before, during, and after welding activities
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities (RT, UT, MT, PT) for piping and structural welds
• Review welding records, weld maps, inspection reports, and NDT results
• Identify welding defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Ensure compliance with welding codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS, etc.)
• Liaise with Site Engineers, QC Inspectors, and third-party inspectors
• Enforce site safety requirements during inspection activities
• Support continuous improvement in welding quality and site practices

Requirements

• Minimum SKM Level 3 in Welding or related discipline
• Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS CWI, or equivalent)
• Experience in construction site / industrial / plant projects, preferably piping or pipeline works
• Good understanding of welding processes (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW)
• Able to read and interpret WPS, drawings, and inspection documents
• Willing to work at project site (Sabah)
