What they need

Shape the Next Generation of Welders

Imagine starting your day in a modern welding lab—machines humming, booths lit, safety checks complete. You gather a small group, walk them through a MIG bead demo, and watch the lightbulb moments as they lay down cleaner passes with each attempt. The afternoon brings one-on-one coaching, a quick huddle with fellow instructors to refine a lesson, and a final sweep to ensure every torch and hood is put away safely. That’s a day in the life of a Welding Technology Instructor & Lab Mentor at Universal Technical Institute.

Never taught before? We’ve got you. If you bring the drive, patience, and trade mastery, we provide paid training to help you translate hands-on expertise into powerful instruction.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspire and educate by building an engaging, inclusive environment where learners gain confidence and skill.
  • Teach by doing with live demos, guided practice, and real-world projects that mirror shop-floor scenarios.
  • Develop curriculum alongside our education team to keep content aligned with modern welding technology and industry trends.
  • Mentor students through problem-solving, encouraging critical thinking and creative approaches.
  • Lead with safety by modeling and enforcing best practices every time a hood drops.

What You’ll Teach With

  • MIG, TIG, and Stick welders
  • GTAW, SMAW, and Flux-Cored Arc systems
  • Robotic and Laser welding equipment

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of hands-on welding experience
  • Proficiency across MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-cored processes
  • Experience with oxy-acetylene torch work, plasma cutting, brazing, and soldering
  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Patience and empathy—because every student learns at a different pace

  • Weekends off
  • Paid training
  • Free tuition for you and your immediate family
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD & LTD Insurance
  • 401(k), Paid Holidays, and PTO
