Well Engineer — Offshore Plug & Abandonment Campaign
North Sea | Contract | Based near Alkmaar
You've engineered wells from the office and stood on the rig floor when it counted. Now own a full campaign — 16 to 22 wells, offshore decommissioning on the Dutch continental shelf, start to finish. This isn't inheriting someone else's plan. You're in from day one: shaping the design, stress-testing it in AWOP, and staying on it through procurement, execution, and close-out. When something changes offshore, you make the call.
What you'll do:
Build the well decommissioning design documents and turn them into programs that hold up offshore. Support procurement on equipment, materials, and service contracts. Own well barrier verification, data review, and risk assessments. Run the AWOP exercise, then bake those lessons into the real program. During execution, coordinate contractors, keep safety equipment mission-ready, and take your turn on a duty engineer roster split across at least three people — real coverage, not a solo grind. At close-out, you write the End of Well Reports and capture what the next campaign needs to know.
You'll report to the Drilling Superintendent and work directly with the decommissioning team — with real influence over how the campaign gets delivered, not just logged.
What you bring:

Technical degree + IWCF well control certification, Level 4 or higher

5+ years onshore/offshore wells experience, genuinely split between engineering and field operations

Strong grasp of well barriers, casing, cementing, and well integrity

Real exposure to P&A, well decommissioning, or drilling/workover operations

Ability to write a program others can execute safely, and report on what actually happened

Flexibility for offshore rotations and hours outside the norm

Currently living in the Netherlands

Why this campaign:
Funded, multi-year, scope already set — not a "maybe." If you want to be the engineer who wrote the program, not just followed it, this is the seat.
