Job Title: Well Management Engineer – RTP & P&A

Location : Midland, TX (some local travel)

Schedule : M-F, 5/2 (on-call as needed)

Duration : 1-year W2 contract (possibility of extension)

Position Overview

Seeking a Petroleum Engineer / Well Management Engineer – RTP & P&A to support well intervention and well management activities within an Upstream Operations organization. This is a full-time, onsite position focused on post-completion wellwork operations, including remedial workovers and Plug & Abandonment (P&A) programs. The role requires close collaboration with Production Engineering, Operations, contractors, and suppliers to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective well execution activities.

Candidates should have strong wellwork experience, preferably within the Permian Basin, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment while supporting field execution and continuous performance improvement initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and provide engineering support for post-completion wellwork operations, including remedial workovers and Plug & Abandonment (P&A) activities.
• Work closely with Production Engineering teams to develop scope, cost estimates, and technical evaluations for well intervention opportunities.
• Develop procedures and provide engineering input for artificial lift system applications.
• Coordinate with Operations personnel regarding rig scheduling, field execution support, and troubleshooting activities.
• Interface with contractors and equipment suppliers to ensure equipment readiness and obtain cost estimates for planned operations.
• Monitor daily wellwork execution, track operational costs, and recommend cost-effective solutions and operational improvements as needed.
• Travel to field locations when required to support and oversee well operations.
• Assist with forecasting wellwork expenditures and preparing budget estimates.
• Track, evaluate, and improve wellwork execution efficiency while managing contractor performance and maintaining Wellview data quality.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 5 years of Oil & Gas industry experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of direct wellwork experience; Permian Basin experience preferred.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel to field locations to support and oversee operations when necessary.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications , including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint .
• Experience using Wellview is required.
• Experience with Spotfire, Power BI , or other data analytics platforms is preferred.

Preferred Background

• Direct operator experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong preference for candidates with hands-on wellwork engineering experience in the workover and completions space, rather than drilling or hydraulic fracturing-focused backgrounds.
• Ideal candidates will have experience supporting workover operations, production operations, and P&A engineering programs.
• Experience supporting workover, well intervention, completions, and Plug & Abandonment (P&A) operations.
• Background supporting unconventional oil and gas assets, particularly within the Permian Basin.
• Preference for candidates currently located in or near Midland, TX.
