SOMARA is a contemporary restrobar in Lucknow offering a distinctive World Cuisine dining experience, bringing together flavours and culinary techniques from different parts of the world.

We are looking for passionate and hardworking Commis Chefs – Western Cuisine to join our culinary team and work under the guidance of our senior chefs.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of Western and Continental dishes.
• Perform daily mise-en-place for the assigned kitchen section.
• Prepare vegetables, herbs, sauces, dressings, marinades and other ingredients.
• Assist with preparation of pasta, pizzas, salads, appetisers, soups, sandwiches, mains and other Western dishes as assigned.
• Assist with grilling, roasting, baking, sautéing, pan-frying and other Western cooking techniques.
• Prepare basic stocks, sauces, reductions and dressings under senior chef supervision.
• Follow standard recipes, preparation methods, portion specifications and plating guidelines.
• Maintain consistency in taste, texture, portion size and presentation.
• Assist the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef during service.
• Ensure all ingredients are properly prepared and available before service.
• Maintain proper storage, labelling and handling of ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the assigned kitchen section.
• Follow food-safety and sanitation standards at all times.
• Minimise food wastage through proper preparation and portion control.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workstations.
• Support other kitchen sections whenever required.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs and maintain professional kitchen discipline.

Preferred Cuisine Exposure

Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following will be an advantage:

Continental | Italian | French | Mediterranean | European | American | Modern Western Cuisine | Pasta | Pizza | Grill | Garde Manger

Candidate Profile

• 1–3 years of relevant kitchen experience preferred.
• Freshers with a relevant Culinary Arts / Hotel Management qualification may also apply.
• Previous experience in a hotel, premium restaurant, restrobar, café or commercial kitchen preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Western/Continental cooking techniques.
• Understanding of sauces, stocks, dressings, pasta and basic Western preparations.
• Good understanding of mise-en-place and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop professional culinary skills.
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Hardworking, disciplined and punctual.
• Culinary Arts / Hotel Management qualification preferred.
