WFH Real Estate FP&A Analyst

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Real Estate Portfolio Asset Manager / FP&A Financial Analyst to oversee the financial performance of a portfolio of 50+ real estate assets. This role will provide detailed financial analysis, monitor asset performance, manage debt and key financial obligations, and identify risks and opportunities across the portfolio. The ideal candidate has strong accounting and FP&A skills combined with real estate experience and can turn financial data into clear insights and actionable recommendations for ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Review monthly P&Ls, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and general ledger activity for individual assets
• Analyze budget vs. actual performance, month-over-month trends, and year-over-year results
• Investigate significant variances in revenue, operating expenses, NOI, payroll, repairs and maintenance, utilities, taxes, insurance, professional fees, interest, and other major expense categories
• Monitor accounts receivable, accounts payable, intercompany activity, cash balances, and capital expenditures
• Prepare and maintain monthly financial scorecards for each asset, tracking key metrics including revenue, operating expenses, NOI, NOI margin, cash flow, cash balance, budget variances, and year-over-year performance
• Maintain accurate debt schedules across the portfolio, tracking lender information, loan balances, interest rates, debt service, amortization schedules, maturities, and prepayment terms
• Monitor loan covenants, DSCR requirements, guarantors, and lender contacts
• Maintain a centralized portfolio database containing property, acquisition, ownership, debt, insurance, tax, contractual, financial, and capital expenditure information
• Prepare concise monthly reporting for ownership covering overall portfolio performance and highlight assets requiring attention
• Support ownership with financial analysis for portfolio-level decisions, including performance improvement, capital allocation, refinancing, and strategic considerations

About you

• 3–7+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, financial analysis, accounting, asset management, or a related field
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or a related discipline preferred
• Strong accounting knowledge and experience working with P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and general ledger data
• Strong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial performance reporting
• Experience analyzing real estate financial performance, including NOI, cash flow, operating expenses, and property-level KPIs
• Experience with commercial real estate debt, loan structures, debt schedules, DSCR, covenants, and refinancing is highly preferred
• Real estate experience in commercial real estate, multifamily, self-storage, retail, industrial, hospitality, or multi-property environments is preferred
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including the ability to analyze and organize large amounts of financial data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate financial variances and identify underlying causes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
