What they need
Our client is a highly regarded construction company delivering a diverse range of civil and commercial projects across NSW. With a strong project pipeline and a supportive, people-focused leadership team, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safety Advisor to join their growing business.
Based in the Nowra office and reporting to the National Safety Manager, this role will provide practical WHS leadership and support across construction projects throughout the South Coast. You will work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors and clients to ensure high safety standards are maintained while building a proactive and positive safety culture.
This is a hands-on, site focused role suited to an experienced safety professional who can operate independently, identify gaps, provide practical solutions and follow actions through to completion. The successful candidate will be someone who can coach and support project teams — not simply administer safety paperwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical safety advice and support to Project Managers and site teams.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with project teams to drive safety outcomes.
- Coach and develop project teams, encouraging ownership of WHS responsibilities and continuous improvement.
- Support project teams in the use of HammerTech, including onboarding, inductions, and compliance tracking.
- Assist Site Managers during site establishment to ensure safety and compliance requirements are met.
- Coordinate, track, and support training and competency requirements across the team.
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety (or currently working towards)
- Demonstrated experience in a construction-site safety role, ideally within a Head Contractor environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with site and project teams.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and identify potential safety gaps before they become issues.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and relevant codes of practice.
- Confident communicator with proven experience engaging with clients and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in WHS systems and platforms.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a business that genuinely values safety and recognises the importance of having an experienced safety professional working alongside its delivery teams.
You will have the opportunity to influence project outcomes, coach and support construction professionals, and help drive a strong safety culture across the South Coast.
If you're an experienced construction safety professional who is practical, proactive and confident working directly with project teams, we'd love to hear from you.
