We’re looking for a proactive and practical WHS Advisor to join our growing Safety & Compliance team. If you enjoy working alongside operational teams, solving real workplace challenges and turning safety requirements into practical improvements, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

Reporting to the National Safety & Compliance Manager, you’ll help strengthen BTG’s WHS Management System and support a positive safety culture across our operations.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving workplace inspections, incident investigations, training, risk management and transport compliance. You’ll work closely with employees, contractors and operational leaders to identify risks and implement practical safety solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of BTG’s WHS Management System.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Maintain risk registers, incident records and safety documentation.
• Assist with developing and reviewing safety policies and Safe Work Procedures.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, hazards and near misses using ICAM or similar methodologies.
• Prepare Safety Alerts, Toolbox Talks, reports and corrective action plans.
• Support employee and contractor inductions, training and competency requirements.
• Assist with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management and driver safety initiatives.
• Support telematics, driver behaviour and speed management programs.
• Assist with Dangerous Goods compliance in accordance with the ADG Code.
• Participate in safety meetings, consultation activities and workplace improvement initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with operational teams and promote a proactive safety culture.

About You

Essential:

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, or currently working towards it.
• Current Australian driver licence.
• Experience in transport, logistics, warehousing or heavy vehicle operations.
• Sound understanding of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A practical, approachable and solutions-focused attitude.

Desirable:

• ICAM or equivalent investigation training.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Return to Work Coordinator qualification.
• Dangerous Goods training or experience.
• Chain of Responsibility or heavy vehicle compliance experience.
• A tertiary qualification in WHS or a related discipline.
