What they need

Strike Energy Ltd is seeking a WHS Advisor to join our office-based team in West Perth, with regular travel to our sites in the Perth Basin. This is an operationally focused role supporting the effective implementation of WHS requirements across operational, maintenance and project activities.

Reporting to the Senior WHS Advisor, you will provide practical support to site-based teams and help ensure Company and regulatory requirements are understood and consistently applied. You’ll provide timely advice and assurance to operational management and support implementation of the WHS management system, Safety Case and corporate WHS and psychosocial wellbeing frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day WHS advice, coaching and guidance to operational, maintenance and project personnel, supervisors and contractors.
  • Provide WHS oversight for high-risk work, verifying permits, risk assessments, isolations and controls are in place before work commences.
  • Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, contractor engagements and operational risk reviews, providing practical input into safe work planning.
  • Coordinate the emergency response on-call roster and support the planning, delivery and evaluation of emergency drills and exercises, tracking actions to closure.
  • Support the development, review and implementation of WHS procedures, work instructions, risk assessments and operational controls.
  • Undertake workplace inspections, field verifications, compliance audits and assurance activities, monitoring actions through to effective closure.
  • Monitor field compliance with the Safety Case, WHS management system and legislation, and escalate gaps, emerging hazards and recurring issues.
  • Support and lead incident and hazard investigations, including evidence collection, causal analysis and corrective action development.
  • Maintain accurate records within the Company’s WHS information systems, and analyse data and trends for dashboards, reports, and committee and Board papers, including TRIFR.
  • Support the rollout and communication of new or revised WHS processes, systems and legislative requirements, including training and awareness activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant qualification in work health and safety, occupational health and safety or a related discipline.
  • Around 5 years’ operational WHS experience, preferably within energy, resources, oil and gas, utilities, construction or another high-risk industry.
  • Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, incident investigation, assurance and Safety Case or equivalent major hazard frameworks.
  • Formal incident investigation training (e.g. ICAM or TapRooT) and auditing training (highly regarded).
  • Experience working with regulators, including Safety Case inspectors and WorkSafe WA (LGIRS), as well as external auditors and specialist consultants.

What You’ll Need

  • A practical, field-focused approach with a visible and approachable style.
  • Sound judgement and the confidence to provide clear, constructive WHS advice.
  • Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills across employees, leaders and contractors.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and follow-up actions.
  • An analytical, process-driven approach and a commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, quality and continuous improvement.
  • A current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence and unrestricted working rights in Australia.

Apply now and play a key role in strengthening our safety performance, supporting our people and contractors to deliver safe operations across our sites.
