Windows Middleware Engineer (WAS/MQ Lead)

We are looking for a hands-on Middleware Lead to take ownership of enterprise-level middleware platforms and drive operational excellence across mission-critical systems. In this role, you’ll lead the engineering and operations of WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and IBM MQ, while modernizing legacy systems and enabling automation and cloud adoption. You’ll work at the intersection of infrastructure, applications, and DevOps, collaborating with global teams and vendors.

Role:

Lead middleware operations & engineering for WAS and MQ environments

Ensure high availability, stability, and performance of production systems

Drive incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis

Collaborate with vendors and offshore teams to ensure smooth delivery

Implement automation, monitoring, and CI/CD best practices

Support cloud migration and containerization initiatives (Docker, etc.)

Act as a technical leader for middleware modernization efforts

Participate in and lead infrastructure and application projects

Technical Stack:

Middleware: WAS, IBM MQ, Tomcat, IIS

Cloud: Azure

DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, automation tools

Containers: Docker (Kubernetes is a plus)

Must Skills and Experience:

8+ years of infrastructure experience with strong middleware specialization (WAS/MQ)

Proven expertise in IBM MQ administration and troubleshooting

Experience with Web/Application Servers (WAS, Tomcat, IIS)

Exposure to cloud platforms and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD)

Strong track record in incident resolution and system reliability improvements

Experience leading teams and managing vendors/stakeholders

Hands-on experience with legacy systems + modernization initiatives
