What they need

Join an engineering team building Windows-based software for regulated products. This role is suited to a developer who enjoys both creating applications and digging into difficult system issues. You’ll help shape software design, contribute production code, and guide other engineers through development and testing.

What You’ll Work On

  • Build and improve Windows applications using C++, Python, Win32, and MFC.
  • Investigate software failures and unexpected Windows behavior, using Visual Studio and other diagnostic tools to identify underlying causes.
  • Turn product needs into clear software requirements, technical designs, and tested functionality.
  • Make architectural recommendations and help the team evaluate implementation options.
  • Review code, share technical knowledge, and mentor junior developers.
  • Plan and coordinate component delivery, identifying dependencies and setting realistic technical milestones.
  • Strengthen automated and manual testing at the unit, component, and integration levels.
  • Partner with quality, clinical, service, and testing specialists to investigate product issues and verify fixes.
  • Improve build workflows, source configuration practices, and development procedures.
  • Maintain documentation and follow the quality controls required for regulated product development.

What You Bring

  • Strong hands-on experience with C++ and Python.
  • A solid foundation in Windows desktop development, including Win32 APIs and MFC.
  • Confidence troubleshooting complex applications and exploring operating system behavior.
  • Experience with Visual Studio debugging and Windows batch scripts.
  • Understanding of network communications using TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Experience defining and maintaining software requirements, including traceability.
  • A track record of influencing technical decisions and supporting other developers.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 3–6 years with a related master’s degree.

Additional Experience That Would Be Valuable

  • Medical device software or another environment with formal regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Windows protection and security features such as BitLocker, Secure Boot, and Unified Write Filter.
  • C# development.
  • Build configuration and execution with CMake or Ninja.
  • Secure coding practices.
  • A master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
