Winter Loader Operator

Dirtworks is hiring experienced Wheel Loader Operators for the 2026–2027 winter season to service our commercial snow and ice management contracts throughout Thunder Bay.

This is a seasonal, weather-dependent position. Operators must be available when snow events occur, including overnights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.

Job Duties:

• Operating wheel loaders for commercial snow removal
• Plowing and pushing snow using snow pushers and other attachments
• Clearing parking lots, roadways and designated snow storage areas
• Working safely around vehicles, buildings, curbs, sidewalks and other equipment
• Following site-specific snow plans and instructions from supervisors
• Completing pre-use inspections and reporting any equipment concerns
• Communicating with supervisors and other operators during snow events

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous wheel loader or heavy equipment operating experience
• Snow removal experience is strongly preferred
• Able to operate equipment safely and efficiently in winter conditions
• Reliable and available when called during snow and ice events
• Comfortable working long shifts when required during major storms
• Able to work independently while following site plans and supervisor direction
• Strong awareness when operating around parked vehicles, pedestrians and other equipment
• Good attitude and ability to work as part of a team

Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Our operators receive pre-season site walkthroughs and instruction on snow pile locations, obstacles and site requirements before the winter season begins.
