Wireless IT Communication Technician

Brief Job Description: This position will report to the Director of Information Technology of Bastrop County and Wireless Radio Systems Manager. This position coordinates with the Greater Austin/Travis County Regional Radio System (GATTRS) team regarding radio template programming and compliance with the TXICC and GATRRS Interoperable Plan. Also, oversees radio installs and maintenance on portable and mobile land mobile radio devices and tower infrastructure. Also ensures that vendors with maintenance and service agreements perform work according to contract.

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge of Motorola R56 standards and compliance, microwave radio and fiber optic technology, backhaul systems, and FCC rules and licensing procedures for Land Mobile Radio. Familiarity with FAA rules and regulations pertaining to wireless communications and tower structures. Proficient in personal computer skills and software, including Microsoft Office. Possesses strong attention to detail and effective communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills. Demonstrates the ability to manage stressful situations, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid Texas Driver’s license (or a valid out of state Driver’s license with the ability to obtain a TXDL within 90 days).
