Wood CNC Programmer

Forte Fixtures is currently seeking a team orientated CNC Programmer / Material Optimization Specialist to join our team.

CNC Programming

• Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, specifications, and work orders.
• Generate tool paths using CAD/CAM software.
• Perform program testing, verification, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain CNC program libraries and revision controls.
• Support machine operators with program-related issues.

Material Optimization

• Create optimized nesting layouts to maximize material yield.
• Analyze material consumption and identify opportunities to reduce waste.
• Develop cutting strategies that improve productivity and reduce scrap.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material utilization.
• Collaborate with purchasing and production teams to improve inventory efficiency.
• Recommend process improvements to increase material recovery and reduce costs.

Education

• Diploma or Certificate in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, CNC Programming, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

• 3–5 years of CNC programming experience in a wood working manufacturing environment.
• Experience with material nesting and optimization software.
• Experience reading technical drawings and GD&T.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as:
• AutoCAD
• Inventor
• B Solid
• Biesse Works
• Understanding of CNC machine setup and operation
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
