Woodshop Assistant / Apprentice Builder

Job Summary

As a Woodshop Assistant / Apprentice Builder, you’ll support hands-on woodworking and construction projects from material preparation through installation. You’ll work with experienced builders to read plans, operate tools safely, assemble components, and contribute to residential carpentry and restoration work. This role suits someone ready to build practical skills across the woodshop and job site.

Duties

• Building Support: Assist the carpenter with measuring, cutting preparation, dry-fitting, sanding, assembly, and finishing. Woodworking is a precise and intricate craft, and attention to detail is critical.
• Shop Operations: Receive and organize incoming lumber, hardware, and material deliveries.
• Shop Maintenance: Keep the workspace clean, safe, and organized, manage dust collection, and maintain tools and equipment.
• Closing: Secure the shop at the end of the day, ensuring all equipment is powered down and the facility is locked up properly.

Requirements

• Practical knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and power tool safety; ability to follow instructions and work carefully.
• Construction, carpentry, woodworking, or construction site experience is helpful.
• Familiarity with blueprint reading, construction plans, or interpreting technical drawings is preferred.
• Willingness to learn is essential.
• Able to perform physical work, including lifting and moving materials, while following safe work practices.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
