What they need
ENSA North America is hiring At-Heights Instructors to teach work-at-height and rescue courses to crews in wind, telecom, and general industry. You'll teach at ENSA and partner training facilities, on customer sites, and on our mobile training towers. This is a hands-on, physical job. You'll climb, hang in a harness, and run rescue drills alongside your students every training day.
ENSA is the work-at-height training division of Mallory Safety & Supply. Our training programs are ISO 9001 certified and GWO approved, and our instructors help keep them that way. Beyond the classroom, you'll help develop course content and improve how we run training.
Mallory has been family owned and privately held for more than 40 years. We've quadrupled in size over the last 20 years and are the largest independently held safety distributor in the US, with 38+ locations and 600+ employees. Our 33 core values, The Mallory Way, shape how we treat customers and each other.
New instructors start with our instructor development program in Mukwonago, WI, running January 4 to February 11, 2027.
What you'll do
- Learn and deliver ENSA training courses to a wide range of clients, at our facilities, partner sites, customer locations, and mobile towers.
- Demonstrate climbing, rescue, and equipment techniques, and coach students through hands-on practice.
- Follow ENSA's quality management system and training program requirements, including our course delivery processes.
- Complete course documentation and send daily updates while you're teaching and traveling.
- Contribute to training content and process improvement projects.
- Share feedback with our operations and quality teams when you spot a way to do things better.
- Represent ENSA at occasional non-training events, such as trade shows and client safety days.
- Keep building your skills through the professional development and certifications we identify, as new markets open up.
Physical demands
We want you to know exactly what a training week looks like before you apply. Instructors regularly:
- Work 8 to 10 hour training days that involve standing, climbing, and demonstrating techniques.
- Climb a 30 to 40 foot training tower about 20 times per day while wearing 10 to 15 pounds of climbing gear.
- Work while suspended in a harness during rescue drills.
- Lift and carry rescue kits and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Keep this pace for 4 to 5 consecutive days, often for several weeks in a row.
- Train indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
Instructors must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Travel and schedule
The same travel expectation applies to every instructor position, including facility-based roles in Mukwonago and Las Vegas.
- Travel: Instructors should expect approximately [12, CONFIRM] weeks of overnight travel per year. Travel includes assignments at other ENSA locations, customer onsite training, and professional development.
- Where: Mostly across the US, with occasional trips to Canada, the Caribbean, and other locations.
- Notice: Travel may occasionally be scheduled with less than one week's notice.
- Schedule: Primarily Monday to Friday. Some courses include weekends, and travel may occur on weekends, often on Sundays.
When you travel for work, Mallory covers your flights, lodging, and rental cars, plus a per diem for food.
How we communicate
Training schedules are published approximately one year in advance. Updates and changes are communicated by email throughout the year, so checking email regularly is part of the job.
Instructors are responsible for providing daily updates and completing required course documentation while traveling and conducting training. Plan on handling this admin work around a full training day.
What we're looking for
Required
- At-heights experience, personal or professional. We can't consider candidates without it.
- A valid driver's license and a motor vehicle report with little to no incidents.

- Ownership of your schedule, paperwork, and daily updates, including while on the road.
- Flexibility and a can-do attitude when plans change, plus the ability to solve problems on the spot.
Preferred
- Wind or safety industry experience.
- Official training or instructing experience in any capacity.
- General experience in the industry.
What to expect in the interview process: Our third interview includes a tower climb, an equipment carry, and a short teach-back exercise. It gives you a real feel for the job and helps us both decide if it's the right fit.
