What they need

About the Role

a&co Recruitment Partners are proud to partner with the City of Karratha to recruit a Workforce and Capability Coordinator who enjoys working closely with leaders to create strong and engaged workplaces.

There has never been a more exciting time to join the City. As we align our organisation to deliver on the Council Plan 2025–2035, we are creating new roles and building the capability needed to deliver real outcomes for our community.

For candidates, this means the opportunity to join a growing organisation at a time of genuine momentum — where your work can help shape services, strengthen community outcomes and contribute to the future of the region.

Karratha is a vibrant hub and the largest city in the Pilbara, offering endless opportunities thanks to billions in planned investment across diverse sectors. With year-round warm weather, stunning landscapes, and a welcoming, family-friendly community, it’s a place where lifestyle and career come together.

Working with the City of Karratha means joining a progressive organisation committed to shaping this dynamic region—so you can build your future while enjoying everything Karratha has to offer.

The Opportunity

In this role, you’ll shape the future of a growing organisation by leading the programs, insights and initiatives that build a strong, capable and future‑ready workforce. Sitting at the centre of organisational strategy, you’ll guide workforce planning, capability uplift and people‑related change that supports long‑term success.

As the Workforce & Capability Coordinator, you’ll take ownership of the organisation’s workforce strategy and turn it into practical, measurable action. Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll provide expert advice, clear direction and structured delivery across workforce planning, capability development, leadership growth and organisational readiness.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take the lead on shaping how the organisation plans, develops and strengthens its workforce. Your work will turn long‑term strategy into clear, coordinated action that supports leaders, builds capability and prepares the organisation for future needs.

  • Driving the delivery of the organisation’s workforce strategy, ensuring initiatives are well sequenced, resourced and monitored.
  • Creating practical delivery plans, milestones and reporting that translate strategy into action.
  • Leading capability uplift activities, including leadership development, talent pipelines, succession planning and critical role identification.
  • Strengthening workforce governance, data quality and insights to support informed decision‑making.
  • Providing expert advice to senior leaders and partnering with People & Culture Business Partners to embed workforce initiatives into everyday practice.
  • Supporting organisational change, including system transitions, workforce readiness and structured change management.
  • Leading and coaching team members and project resources to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

What We’re Looking For
You’re someone who brings strategic thinking, strong judgement and the ability to navigate complexity with confidence. You enjoy influencing senior stakeholders, shaping workforce strategy and building capability across an organisation.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience in workforce planning, organisational development or capability uplift.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret workforce data and provide clear recommendations.
  • Proven experience leading people or project teams with a supportive, coaching‑oriented style.
  • Confidence working with senior leaders and influencing across the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate documentation.
  • A solid understanding of contemporary HR practice, workforce frameworks and relevant legislation.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR, OD, Business or a related field.

 Salary and Benefits

  • Base salary
  • 13% Super
  • Karratha allowance
  • Travel allowance
  • Subsidised housing
  • Relocation assistance

Why join us?

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping a sustainable, agile and future‑focused workforce — enabling leaders, supporting organisational priorities and strengthening capability across the organisation.
