What they need
This is a rare opportunity to join a large, nationally recognised institution to provide national leadership of staff coordination and process improvements across the organisation.
Following a recent organisational review, the organisation has created a new Workforce Planning Lead position to bring greater consistency, oversight, and forward planning to workforce deployment across the country. With a workforce that supports thousands of staff located throughout New Zealand, this role will play a critical part in shaping how staffing capability is planned, allocated, and managed into the future.
This is a two-year fixed term engagement, with genuine influence across senior leadership, providing the successful candidate with the opportunity to drive meaningful operational improvement while helping establish a more sustainable and data-driven workforce planning function.
About the Role
Reporting to a senior executive leader, this role sits at the centre of workforce planning and resource allocation activities across the organisation.
You will develop a national view of staffing capability, demand, workforce pressures and future requirements, helping leaders make informed decisions about how resources are allocated. The role combines workforce planning, operational leadership, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex organisational challenges.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading workforce planning and national resource allocation activities
- Developing insights and recommendations that inform staffing decisions
- Identifying workforce gaps, risks, workload pressures and future needs
- Building reporting frameworks that improve visibility and decision making
- Improving staffing systems, processes, workflows and tools
- Partnering with senior leaders across operational, people and finance functions
- Supporting organisational change initiatives and workforce model development
- Coaching and supporting a small staffing coordination function
About You
This role will suit someone who enjoys tackling complex problems, working through ambiguity, and bringing structure to environments that are still evolving.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience in workforce planning, resource allocation, operational leadership or workforce analytics
- Strong analytical capability and confidence working with large and varied data sets
- Experience providing recommendations that influence senior leaders and decision makers
- Proven success driving process improvement and operational change
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
- Experience working within large, complex organisations
Key Benefits
This role offers the chance to take ownership of a newly established function and make a visible impact across a large organisation.
In addition, you'll benefit from:
- Opportunity to shape and influence a nationally significant workforce planning function
- High-level exposure to senior leaders and organisation-wide decision making
- Meaningful transformation and improvement programme already underway
- Flexible working arrangements available for the right candidate
- Additional leave provisions and strong professional development support
- Competitive salary package
- Additional leave days through the Christmas period
