Bring your HR expertise to work that really matters

Do you enjoy getting to the heart of challenging people matters, building trusted relationships and finding practical ways forward?

If you’re an HR professional who enjoys variety, problem-solving and making a positive contribution, this could be the opportunity for you.

We’re looking for two Workforce Practitioners to join our Workforce Relations team at Warwickshire County Council on a six-month fixed-term basis.

This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. You will use your HR knowledge, judgement and influencing skills to support managers across a range of workforce relations matters, while also contributing to wider work across the service.

What will you be doing?

Your work will include:

  • managing and advising on complex casework and employee relations matters
  • engaging with Trade Union representatives
  • supporting grading activity
  • contributing to policy development and implementation, including training.

You will work closely with managers, colleagues across Workforce Services and Trade Union representatives, analysing and interpreting information, navigating sensitive issues and providing clear advice that helps move matters forward.

You will also have opportunities to contribute ideas, identify improvements and help shape how we deliver our service.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone with sound HR knowledge, professional judgement and a solutions-focused approach.

You will have considerable knowledge of HR legislation and best practice and be able to apply this to real-life workplace situations.

You will be able to build effective working relationships, use your own initiative and manage competing priorities in a changing environment.

You will be CIPD qualified to Level 5 and working towards Level 7, with relevant HR experience, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.

We recognise that relevant skills and experience can be gained in different ways, and we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate how they meet the requirements of the role.

Working at Warwickshire

Our roles are based at Shire Hall in Warwick, but we work agilely, providing flexibility in how and where you work while balancing the needs of the service, team and individual.

Alongside the opportunity to make a real contribution within our Workforce Relations service, you’ll have access to a range of benefits and support, including:

  • annual leave and bank holidays, with entitlement proportionate to the period employed for fixed-term employees
  • employee benefits and discounts through Vivup
  • health and wellbeing support, including our confidential Employee Assistance Programme.

Interested?

If you’re looking for a varied HR role where you can use your expertise, judgement and people skills to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Start date: We are looking for successful candidates to start around mid-November where possible.
