What they need

About the Opportunity

PV Source is building its civil construction operation and assembling its core field team in the Brookshire / West Houston area.

We are looking for an experienced Working Foreman / Equipment Operator who wants more than another operator job. This is an opportunity to get involved early, work directly with the owner, and help build the field operation as the company grows.

The right person will initially be very hands-on. You will operate equipment, lead small crews, plan and execute work, solve field problems, and help establish the standards and procedures that future crews will follow.

As PV Source adds crews and projects, this position is intended to grow with the company.

This is a good fit for someone who has spent years in civil construction and knows how to get work done in the field, but wants more responsibility, more autonomy, direct access to ownership, and a real opportunity to help build something from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

You will be responsible for hands-on execution and field leadership across civil construction and sitework projects, including:

  • Excavation and earthwork
  • Site grading and fine grading
  • Drainage and stormwater improvements
  • Underground utilities
  • Site preparation
  • Aggregate roads and stabilized access
  • Concrete and foundation-related work
  • Erosion and sediment control
  • Fencing and gates
  • Corrective civil work and industrial site maintenance
  • Demolition and site restoration

You will also:

  • Personally operate compact track loaders, skid steers, excavators and other construction equipment
  • Read plans, specifications and construction drawings
  • Establish and verify grades and elevations
  • Plan daily work and sequence field activities
  • Lead and work alongside laborers and operators
  • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, trucking and subcontractors
  • Identify field conflicts and develop practical solutions
  • Monitor safety, production, quality and workmanship
  • Protect and maintain company trucks, trailers, tools and equipment
  • Communicate directly with customers, contractors, inspectors and company ownership
  • Provide field input on manpower, equipment, duration and constructability
  • Help train and develop future operators and foremen

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with substantial hands-on civil construction experience.

Required:

  • English speaking
  • 7+ years of civil construction, excavation, sitework or underground utility experience
  • 3+ years leading crews or directing field work
  • Strong skid steer / compact track loader operating ability
  • Strong excavator operating ability
  • Experience with grading, excavation and drainage work
  • Ability to read construction plans and understand grades and elevations
  • Ability to plan and coordinate field activities without constant supervision
  • Strong understanding of construction safety and equipment care
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to work alongside the crew and operate equipment regularly

Highly valued:

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Class A CDL
  • OSHA 30
  • Underground utility experience
  • Storm drainage experience
  • Laser / rotary laser / grade-control experience
  • Concrete and foundation experience
  • Equipment hauling experience
  • Mechanical or welding ability
  • Experience building or leading crews in a smaller contractor environment

Compensation

$38–$42 per hour, depending on experience and capability

  • Time-and-a-half overtime after 40 hours
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Company truck and fuel
  • Company phone
  • PPE and work-boot support
  • Employee benefits
  • Compensation and responsibility reviewed as the role develops

For an experienced foreman who consistently works overtime, total annual earnings can materially exceed the straight-time hourly equivalent.

Why PV Source

This is not a large-company foreman position where you inherit an established system and simply operate within it.

PV Source is in the early stages of building its civil construction business. That means there will be ambiguity, changing priorities and days when everyone has to do whatever is required to get the job completed.

It also means the person who joins us early will have an unusual amount of influence over how the company operates.

You will work directly with ownership and have meaningful input into:

  • How crews are organized
  • Equipment selection
  • Field procedures
  • Production standards
  • Safety practices
  • Job planning and execution
  • Hiring and developing future field employees
  • How PV Source builds its reputation with customers

We are looking for someone who sees that as an opportunity, not a drawback.

Growth Opportunity

The intended progression for a strong performer is:

Working Foreman → General Foreman → Superintendent / Field Operations Leadership

As PV Source grows, the right person should be capable of progressing from running an individual crew to helping manage multiple crews and projects.

Exceptional long-term performers may also have an opportunity to participate in the future ownership of the company.

No ownership interest is guaranteed. Any future ownership opportunity would depend on performance, leadership, tenure, company needs and mutual fit.

The Person We Want

We are not looking for someone who only wants to sit in a truck and tell other people what to do.

We want a field leader who can run the machine, run the crew, read the plans, solve the problem and take ownership of the result.

If you have spent years helping build someone else’s construction company and are interested in being one of the people who helps build the next one, we want to talk to you.

Pay: $38.00 - $42.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 50.0 per week

Application Question(s):

  • Do you have at least 3 years of civil foreman experience?

Experience:

  • Civil construction: 7 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • CDL A (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
