Workshop Assistant & HGV Driver

Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and versatile Workshop Assistant & HGV Driver to join our dynamic team. This is a hands-on dual role that combines HGV driving and supporting our workshop & trackside operations, with regular involvement in our race weekends and track events across the UK (and occasionally Europe).

The ideal candidate will be an experienced HGV driver who is comfortable working around vehicles and tyres, although we would also be very interested in hearing from a qualified mechanic who holds the appropriate HGV licence.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Loading, unloading and transporting race/event equipment and vehicles
• Supporting the race team with on-site set-up, operation & breakdown at race meetings and track events
• Maintaining an organised, professional working environment at race/track events.
• Carrying out routine vehicle checks, basic servicing & maintenance
• Assisting with general mechanical maintenance and workshop tasks
• Preparing trucks, trailers and equipment for events
• Ensuring vehicles, trailers, tools and equipment are kept clean, safe and ready for use
• Tyre preparation and management for race and track events
• Acting as a professional, friendly point of contact on site with drivers/guests, crew & suppliers
• Team & driver hospitality
• Complete & maintain accurate documentation & records
• Ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and road laws
• Working closely with the workshop and management team to ensure everything is prepared and delivered on time and to keep operations running smoothly

There will be some weekend work, overnight stays and travel throughout the UK as part of the role. There may also be opportunities to attend occasional European events.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• An experienced and competent HGV driver with the appropriate licences
• Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for transporting goods securely
• Practical, mechanically minded and happy getting their hands dirty
• Ideally experienced in vehicle maintenance or as a mechanic
• Strong organisation skills, reliable and safety-conscious
• A good team player with a positive, can-do attitude who is able to work independently and use their initiative
• Professional and presentable when representing the company at events
• Comfortable working long days and weekends when required by the event schedule
• Ideally based in the North West – close to our workshop at Ellesmere Port.

Experience in motorsport, race support, performance/race tyres, transport, commercial vehicles or a similar environment would be advantageous, but is not essential for the right candidate.

What We Offer

• Full-time, permanent position
• Competitive salary, depending on experience and qualifications
• Varied work combining workshop, transport and motorsport/event activity
• Opportunity to attend race meetings and track events across the UK, with opportunity for occasional European travel
• A hands-on role working as part of a close-knit team within a specialist and fast-moving environment
• Opportunity to develop your mechanical and motorsport

If you are an experienced HGV driver with a strong mechanical/tyre background — or an HGV-qualified mechanic looking for a varied role outside a conventional workshop — we would like to hear from you.

Benefits:

• Company pension
• Free parking
• On-site parking
