This varied role combines workshop scheduling, administration, customer service and fleet compliance. It is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in a workshop, dealership, garage, fleet or transport environment.

About the role

Working with the Workshop Manager and technicians, you will coordinate servicing, MOTs, inspections and repairs, while maintaining accurate records and keeping customers informed.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing workshop bookings, job cards and service records.
  • Providing customers with clear and timely updates.
  • Supporting estimates, authorisations, invoicing and warranty work.
  • Ordering parts and monitoring stock and consumables.
  • Maintaining compliance records and supporting audits.
  • Helping to coordinate technician workloads and workshop priorities.
  • Deputising for the Workshop Manager when required and undertaking relevant Operator’s Licence training.

About you

You may currently work as a Service Advisor, Workshop Administrator, Fleet Administrator, Transport Administrator, Maintenance Planner or Parts and Warranty Administrator.

You will bring:

  • Experience or knowledge of workshop, fleet, vehicle servicing or transport administration.
  • Strong organisation and customer service skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence using digital systems and maintaining accurate records.
  • An understanding of vehicle safety and compliance, or a willingness to learn.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with others.

Practical experience is just as valuable as formal qualifications. You do not need previous local government experience, and relevant training will be available.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to take on a varied role at the heart of the Council’s vehicle and plant workshop. You will help keep essential services moving while developing your knowledge of fleet and workshop operations.
