Workshop Foreman– Automotive

Workshop Foreman — Tokai, Cape Town

We're an independent multi-branch automotive service group in the Southern Suburbs, with 25 years behind us and three branches running. We're looking for one person to run the Steenberg workshop floor.

The shop: 13 bays, 7 qualified technicians, and real room to grow. This is a floor role, not a branch management role — the directors handle sales, marketing and the P&L. Your job is output, quality and the team.

What you own

• Technician efficiency, productivity and daily workflow
• Job allocation — the right technician on the right car
• Diagnosis sign-off and booked times. When a technician says a job takes five hours, you're the one who decides whether it does.
• Quality control and comeback rate — the buck stops with you
• WIP control and turnaround time
• Technician performance, development and discipline, including the hard conversations
• Working alongside the service advisors on job flow and customer commitments
• Weekly numbers to the directors: hours sold, efficiency, WIP age, comebacks

What we're looking for

• Trade-tested technician (Red Seal preferred) who has moved properly into running a floor
• Experience leading technicians — as a foreman, controller or workshop supervisor. You've held a team to a standard, not just worked alongside one.
• Technically strong enough to overrule a diagnosis and back your call
• You read numbers and act on them: efficiency, WIP age, comeback rate
• You've performance-managed someone out, and you'd do it again if it was right for the team
• You run a digital workshop system properly, every day, no exceptions
• Valid driver's licence, clean record, contactable references we will call

• R30,000 basic depending on experience, plus a monthly performance incentive based on workshop efficiency and quality
