Heavy Diesel Parts & Services (HDPS) is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic or existing Workshop Foreman to lead our Timaru workshop.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work closely with the Branch Manager to oversee daily workshop operations, support and mentor technicians, and help drive productivity, quality, safety and customer satisfaction.

You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of workshop performance, influence how work gets done, and play a key role in developing the team and workshop culture.

What you'll be doing

• Leading and supporting a team of technicians and apprentices
• Allocating and coordinating workshop jobs
• Providing technical guidance and diagnostic support
• Monitoring workflow and productivity to ensure targets are achieved
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety and compliance
• Coaching and developing team members
• Building strong relationships with customers and colleagues
• Working closely with the Branch Manager to improve workshop performance and customer outcomes

What we're looking for

• Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience leading, mentoring or supporting other technicians, or the drive to step into your first leadership role
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
• Positive, hands-on leadership style
