Workshop Foreman

About the role

Reporting to the Service Manager, you'll own workshop-floor execution: keep the job board moving, get the right work to the right technician, hold the quality line, and bring on the people behind you. This is a hands-on, working foreman role. You'll spend approximately 60% of your time on your own jobs and the rest leading, checking and supporting a team of six technicians plus our vehicle groomer.

Key responsibilities

• Own the daily job board - allocate work by skill and capacity, keep jobs moving, and spot bottlenecks before they bite
• Keep the Service Manager and Advisors in the loop on progress, delays and any additional work
• Quality-check completed jobs before handover - 3 C's written up, parts recorded, vehicle clean and fixed right first time
• Be the workshop's technical escalation point - guide diagnostics rather than simply taking the job off the technician
• Lead, coach and develop the team, including apprentices, and run weekly toolbox meetings
• Manage the day-to-day people side of the workshop - technician hours and leave, assisting with hiring, and performance reviews alongside the Service Manager
• Keep the workshop safe, tidy and compliant - monthly hazard register, PPE, and equipment maintained
• Handle WOF matters and keep certification and records in order

About you

• Qualified automotive technician with at least 8 years' experience
• European vehicle experience preferred
• Strong diagnostic and quality-control ability
• Natural leadership - able to allocate, coach and hold a standard, and stay calm when the day gets busy
• Full NZ driver's licence
• WoF authority is a plus - or the confidence to handle WoF issues as they arise
