What they need
Are you an experienced technician who can lead by example and keep a busy workshop running smoothly?
Farmer Autovillage is looking for a hands-on Workshop Foreperson to join our tyre, windscreen and accessory team.
You will work on vehicles alongside the team while overseeing workloads, allocating incoming work and monitoring productivity. You will need to balance your own jobs by keeping an eye on the wider workshop, making sure everyone knows what they are working on and what needs to happen next.
About the role
Your role will combine practical workshop work with daily team coordination. You will assign jobs according to technician skills, capacity, and priority, adjusting the workload as requirements or deadlines change.
Working closely with our service, parts, and sales teams, you will ensure work progresses efficiently and is completed safely, on time and to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Completing tyre, windscreen and accessory work alongside the team.
· Reviewing incoming work and assigning jobs promptly, with clear priorities and completion expectations.
· Monitoring each team member’s workload, job progress, and productivity throughout the day.
· Reallocating work when priorities change, jobs run over time or team members need assistance.
· Providing practical support, resolving problems, and helping team members develop their skills.
· Checking completed work and ensuring job cards are completed accurately.
· Keeping internal teams informed of progress, delays and any additional work requiring approval.
· Maintain a safe, tidy, and well-organised workshop.
What you will bring
You will be a capable technician who leads by example, communicates clearly, and takes ownership of ensuring that the day’s work completed. You will be comfortable giving directions, following up on progress and addressing productivity or quality concerns constructively.
We are looking for:
· Strong practical experience in an automotive workshop – tyres, windscreens or accessories.
· The ability to coordinate work across team members.
· Previous foreperson, team leader or senior experience, or the ability to step into a leadership role.
· Confidence allocating work, setting priorities and monitoring performance.
· High standards of workmanship, attention to detail and customer care.
· A reliable work ethic and a current full driver’s licence.
Experience with wheel alignments, vehicle accessories and windscreen fitting processes would be an advantage.
Why Farmer Autovillage?
Join an established, family-owned automotive group in the Bay of Plenty, with variety across vehicles, products, and workshop tasks. This is an opportunity to put your technical experience and leadership skills to work in a role where you can directly influence the quality of the work and the performance of the team.
Ready to take the lead?
Apply through SEEK with your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your workshop experience and what you would bring to this hands-on leadership role. Alternatively, you can send your CV and cover letter to Mitch Robertson [email protected]
