What they need

Heating & Ventilation Warehouse Ltd is an established manufacturing business specialising in ductwork for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry.

We manufacture traditional galvanised steel ductwork alongside our own patented pre-insulated ductwork system and other bespoke metal fabrications.

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Workshop Operative / General Workshop Assistant to join our friendly team on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

This is a practical, hands-on position working alongside our experienced fabricators, assisting with the day-to-day running of our busy workshop.

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting experienced fabricators with manufacturing and assembly.
  • Measuring, marking out and preparing materials.
  • Using basic hand tools and workshop equipment.
  • Helping manufacture and assemble sheet metal ductwork and insulated products.
  • Loading, unloading and moving materials around the workshop.
  • Keeping the workshop clean, tidy and organised.
  • Learning new skills and manufacturing techniques as experience develops.

What We're Looking For

We're more interested in your attitude, reliability and willingness to learn than your qualifications.

Ideally, you'll have some practical experience, whether from construction, labouring, workshop work, DIY or another hands-on environment.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Comfortable using a tape measure and basic hand tools.
  • Practical, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Able to listen, follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Happy to get stuck in and help wherever needed.
  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on workshop work.
  • Able to take pride in their work and maintain good standards.

Previous sheet metal fabrication experience is not necessary, as training will be provided.

Training & Career Progression

For the right person, this could be much more than just a general workshop job.

You'll work alongside experienced fabricators who can teach you the skills involved in sheet metal fabrication, operating workshop machinery and manufacturing specialist ductwork products.

We are keen to develop someone who demonstrates a good work ethic, reliability and a genuine willingness to learn.

There is a real opportunity to progress into a skilled fabricator's role, with pay progression reflecting developing skills, experience and responsibilities.

What We Offer

  • Permanent, full-time employment.
  • On-the-job training from experienced fabricators.
  • Opportunity to learn a skilled trade.
  • Friendly, supportive workshop environment.
  • Long-term career progression for the right candidate.
  • Workplace pension scheme with employer contributions in accordance with automatic enrolment requirements.
  • Paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlement in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Free on-site parking.
  • Convenient public transport links.

Location & Travel

Our workshop is located in East Tilbury, Essex, approximately a 10-minute walk from East Tilbury railway station.

Free on-site parking is also available for those travelling by car.

How to Apply

Please apply through Indeed with your CV or a brief summary of your previous work experience.

We'd be particularly interested to hear about any practical experience you have, even if it's not directly related to manufacturing.

We don't expect you to know everything from day one. If you're reliable, turn up on time, work hard and are willing to learn, we'd like to hear from you.

Pay: £23,000.00-£28,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free parking
  • On-site parking
  • Transport links
