What they need

ALH Recruitment is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor on behalf of our client.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a locally owned business with a strong reputation for quality workmanship and reliable service. If you have experience in a workshop or trade environment, enjoy leading a team, and take pride in keeping operations running smoothly, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of a busy hydraulic service workshop. From coordinating workflow and supporting staff to liaising with customers and suppliers, you'll help ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who is organised, proactive, and confident making decisions in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily workshop operations and manage staff workflow.
  • Allocate jobs to team members based on their skills and experience.
  • Communicate with customers, book in jobs, and provide updates as required.
  • Prepare quotes and estimates that meet customer needs and company margins.
  • Liaise with suppliers to source parts and services.
  • Ensure job cards, workshop paperwork, and documentation are completed accurately.
  • Lead toolbox meetings and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Complete and maintain Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Monitor scheduled and breakdown work to ensure jobs are completed efficiently.
  • Attend management meetings when required and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Support a positive, professional, and safety-focused team culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a workshop, hydraulic, mechanical, or trade environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to coordinate competing priorities.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Confidence dealing with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety and quality workmanship.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to problem-solve and take initiative.

Why Join This Team?

  • Permanent employment directly with our client.
  • The opportunity to take ownership of workshop operations and make a real impact.
  • Work with a supportive team in an established, locally owned business.
  • A varied role where your trade knowledge, leadership, and initiative will be valued.

Ready for Your Next Step?

If you're ready to take on a leadership role where you can put your workshop experience to good use, we'd love to hear from you.
