What they need

The International Institute, as part of our World Language Center, is dedicated to fostering cross-cultural communication, community connection, and lifelong learning. Beyond language education, our center serves a deeper mission: any revenue generated beyond faculty salaries directly supports keeping language and support classes free for immigrants and refugees in our community.

Classes are contingent upon reaching minimum enrollment capacity each term.

Position Summary
We are seeking passionate, engaging, and culturally responsive World Language Teachers to lead adult evening classes. Whether you specialize in Spanish, Japanese, French, Mandarin, German, or another world language, you will help learners develop practical conversational language skills while sharing the excitement of the culture and the people who speak the language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and lead dynamic, interactive lessons tailored to adult learners starting at age 16, accommodating various proficiency levels as needed.
  • Create a welcoming, respectful, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching methods to suit learner interests and needs.
  • Track attendance, manage course materials, and communicate effectively with program coordinators regarding class needs.
  • Administer a feedback survey two times during the term.
  • Arrive 15 minutes before class begins and maintain reliable availability to teach every scheduled Monday and/or Tuesday evening class (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM) throughout the term, unless prior arrangements are made.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching world languages in a formal classroom or community education setting.
  • Native or near-native language proficiency in the target language, paired with strong communication skills in English.
  • A strong alignment with the International Institute’s mission to support immigrants, refugees, and community inclusivity.

Why Teach With Us?

  • Directly contribute to a model where your teaching efforts help fund free educational programs for immigrants and refugees.
  • Engage with motivated learners eager to explore other cultures and languages.
  • Earn $25 per hour in a rewarding educational community.
