Part-Time Contemporary Worship Leader / Vocalist & Guitarist

We are a United Methodist congregation looking for the right person—or possibly two people—to help us thoughtfully expand our worship music into a more contemporary style while honoring the traditional worship that has long been part of our church.

We are not looking for a rock band.

We already have a talented piano/keyboard player and a congregation that appreciates traditional hymns. What we are looking for is someone with a guitar, a voice, a gift for leading worship, and a heart for helping a congregation grow musically.

Our goal is not to abandon traditional hymns or completely change who we are. Instead, we want to create a bridge between the traditional and the contemporary, incorporating acoustic guitar, vocals, modern worship songs, updated arrangements of familiar hymns, and music that feels warm, meaningful, and accessible to multiple generations.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a confident vocalist who can lead congregational singing
• Play acoustic guitar proficiently
• Be comfortable working alongside an existing piano/keyboard player
• Have an understanding of both traditional church music and contemporary Christian worship music
• Help select songs that complement the message and flow of worship
• Introduce new music at a pace that is comfortable and inviting for the congregation
• Be dependable, prepared, collaborative, and comfortable working with church leadership
• Understand that effective worship leadership is about leading people in worship, not putting on a performance

We are open to one person who can provide both vocals and guitar or two people whose talents complement one another.

Our Vision

We are looking for someone who can take a beloved hymn played on piano one Sunday and introduce a beautiful acoustic worship song the next, and eventually help those two styles feel completely at home together.

We want worship music that feels authentic, welcoming, uplifting, and spiritually meaningful.

This is an opportunity for someone who loves music, loves people, and would enjoy helping a church thoughtfully take its next step in worship.

Schedule & Compensation

This is a part-time position primarily centered around Sunday worship, with rehearsal/planning time as needed.

Compensation is negotiable

Schedule: Sunday from 1030am - 12:30pm with 1 hour weekday evening rehearsal.
