Worship Music Leader

Job Overview
We respect beloved traditions, but we’re also changing and evolving our musical identity. Following the departure of our previous Worship Music Leader, we are now seeking a new person with multi-faceted musical talents to help shepherd our congregation each week with creative, fun, and inspiring music (both traditional and contemporary) that enhances our mission and worship.

Required Qualifications
*Proficient in playing piano and keyboard.

*Experience playing with band ensembles and accompanying/directing choirs and/or vocal groups

Preferred Qualifications
*Proficiency with other instruments and vocals.

*Understanding of the church year and seasons of the church.

Duties
*Work collaboratively and coordinate with the Pastor, contemporary worship/praise band, and Worship Ministry Team as well as congregation members (as appropriate) on music planning and selection for worship and special events*.

*Worship Music Leader maintains the right of first refusal for funerals and weddings when a pianist is requested.

*Lead rehearsals for and direct the Chancel Choir in singing in worship 8-10 times per year.

*Accompany the congregation and ensembles in worship services/settings and special events (i.e. Live Nativity, Kidz Ministry Christmas Pageant, etc.).

*Offer a variety of musical styles to enrich and enliven our spiritual and community life including traditional hymns and contemporary repertoire. Actively work to expand the musical repertoire for the enrichment of our congregation.

*Be as interested in the meaning of the music and how it contributes to our ministry as in its technical elements to add depth and emotion to the music of players and ensembles.

*Work to invite, encourage, incorporate, and arrange musical participation for our multigenerational congregation. Understand that our musical participants offer a wide range of skills, from novice to expert.

*Support our musicians in an engaging, positive way, including through fun and inspiring rehearsals.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $1,000.00 per month

Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
