What they need
WHY DO PEOPLE TALK TO THEMSELVES IN THEIR SECRET CLOSET? *Self-talk is more than habit — it's how we process, reflect, and heal.* Have you ever caught yourself talking alone in your room? Maybe you were sitting on your bed, or inside your wardrobe corner, whispering to yourself: "Why is my life like this? When will things change?" And then you quickly look around to make sure nobody heard you. Because in this world, if people hear you talking to yourself, they think you are running mad. But you are not mad. You are human. In fact, almost everyone does it. 1. Why do we do it? It's not madness, it's processing. Psychologists call it *"intrapersonal communication* or *self-talk*. When life gets loud, our mind needs a private meeting. And that meeting often happens out loud. Here is why it happens in that secret closet moment: *a) We are overthinking:* Your brain is full. You have bills to pay, dreams that are delayed, people who don't understand you. When you talk out loud, you are trying to arrange the thoughts scattered in your head. You are not crazy, you are trying to find clarity. *b) We are our own therapist:* Sometimes there is no one to talk to. Friends are busy. Family will judge. So you become your own best friend. You ask yourself questions and you answer yourself. It's a way of comforting yourself. *c) We are calculating life:* Just like i said — you sit and calculate, "How did I get here? why is life frustrating me like this?" That calculation is your mind trying to solve your life like mathematics. Talking helps you think better. *d) We are seeking hope:* After complaining and questioning, have you noticed you always end with hope? "Ah, it's for the good. God knows the best." That last sentence is not failure, it's faith. It's your spirit reminding your soul that you will be okay. 2. My Secret Closet Story — And Yours Too Let me be honest with you. I do it too. When I am alone, I talk to myself. I replay what happened during the day. I remember the things that didn't go well. I ask myself, "Why am I trying so hard and things are still hard?" Sometimes I even laugh alone. Sometimes I argue with myself. And at the end, I always tell myself, "Calm down. God is not done with me yet." If you have ever done this, please know you are not alone. That secret closet is not a place of madness. It is your private office where you meet with yourself. 3. The Hidden Benefits of Talking to Yourself People who talk to themselves are actually more intelligent and emotionally strong. Research shows: - It helps you *control your emotions*. When you say it out loud, the pain becomes lighter. - It *improves your focus*. You remember things better. - It gives you *confidence*. You are literally coaching yourself. - It prevents you from exploding. Instead of shouting at people, you release the pressure alone. 4. When Should You Worry? Self-talk is normal UNLESS: - You hear a different voice answering you that you cannot control - You can't stop and it's affecting your sleep, work, and life- You start hurting yourself because of what the voice says If it's just you reflecting, encouraging, and questioning yourself — you are perfectly normal. **Final Word* So next time you catch yourself talking in your secret closet, don't feel ashamed. Don't think you are running mad. You are just a human being trying to understand life, trying to heal, trying to hold on. Keep talking. Keep processing. And keep ending with that powerful sentence: *"It's for the good. God knows the best."*
