X-Ray Technologist – OR / C-Arm
Location: Fairfax, Virginia 22033
Facility: Inova Northern Virginia Surgery Center – Fair Oaks
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Shift: 5×8 Day Shifts
Contract: Travel/Contract
Pay: Up to $2,400/week

Position Overview

This is more than a traditional X-Ray Technologist position. The technologist will provide real-time imaging support during surgical procedures, primarily using C-arm and mini C-arm equipment. When radiology cases are not taking place, the technologist will assist the OR team with perioperative/OR aide duties. Training will be provided for the additional OR responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time imaging support during surgical procedures using C-arm and mini C-arm equipment.
• Maintain radiation safety standards for patients, physicians, and staff.
• Perform equipment inspections and maintain dosimeter/radiation monitoring records.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain proficiency with C-arm and mini C-arm equipment.
• Inspect and maintain lead aprons, shields, and other protective equipment.
• Collaborate with surgeons and OR staff to support efficient surgical workflow.
• Assist with process improvement, equipment needs, and patient-care initiatives.
• Support overall OR efficiency by performing additional perioperative duties as assigned.
• Maintain required inspection and radiation-monitoring documentation.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited radiographic technician program.
• Active Virginia Radiologic Technologist License – Required.
• ARRT certification – Preferred.
• Current BLS certification – Required.
• C-arm imaging experience preferred.
• OR/surgical experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability and willingness to assist with OR duties beyond traditional radiology responsibilities.

Important Note

Candidates should understand that this role is not exclusively an X-Ray position. C-arm imaging is a key responsibility, but when imaging cases are not scheduled, the technologist will assist the OR team as an OR aide.
