Based in Bellshill with some community-based delivery
We are looking for a Community Wellbeing Worker to deliver and develop Y-Thrive, our community wellbeing programme for adults, which forms part of our wider Full Family Support programme.
Y-Thrive aims to improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and create opportunities for people who may experience poverty or other barriers to taking part in community activities and accessing support.
The role will involve delivering an agreed programme of workshops, groups and activities, while listening to participants and adapting activities in response to their needs, interests and feedback.
Activities may include wellbeing, light physical activity, digital skills, practical learning, confidence building, social activities, volunteering and other community-based support.
You will build relationships with adults in the community, encourage people to get involved, support volunteers to take an active role in Y-Thrive and help participants connect with other YMCA services and partner organisations where appropriate.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Plan and deliver engaging workshops, groups and community activities.
- Adapt activities based on participant needs, feedback and emerging issues.
- Work confidently with adults from different backgrounds and circumstances.
- Understand some of the barriers people experiencing poverty, isolation or disadvantage may face.
- Recruit, encourage and support volunteers to contribute to Y-Thrive.
- Build positive relationships and help people access other opportunities and support.
- Work independently and use their own initiative.
- Work well as part of a wider team.
- Keep clear records and help us measure the difference the programme is making.
- Work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends.
Experience in community work, adult learning, wellbeing, family support or a similar area would be useful. Equally important is the ability to connect with people, deliver practical and engaging activities and adapt your approach to meet different needs.
If you enjoy working directly with people, bringing ideas to life and helping people become more connected with their community, we would like to hear from you.
