Yard and Materials Associate

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and safety-minded Yard & Materials Associate to join our team. This is a hands-on position responsible for keeping our yard organized, assisting customers, loading and unloading materials, and safely handling lumber and building products.

The ideal candidate is dependable, works well with others, takes pride in keeping things organized, and is comfortable working in a busy outdoor environment.

ResponsibilitiesYard & Material Handling

• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
• Receive, organize, and properly store lumber and building materials.
• Prepare customer orders for pickup and assist with loading materials.
• Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment safely.
• Verify incoming and outgoing materials against shipping and order documentation.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient yard.
• Assist with inventory organization and stocking as needed.

Customer Service

• Provide friendly, professional, and helpful service to customers.
• Assist contractors, homeowners, and other customers with loading and locating materials.
• Answer basic questions and direct customers to the appropriate sales team member when needed.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with customers and coworkers.

Safety & Teamwork

• Follow all company safety policies and material-handling procedures.
• Participate in company safety meetings and training.
• Help maintain a clean and safe work environment throughout the yard and loading areas.
• Perform daily equipment and work-area inspections.
• Report damaged materials, equipment issues, or safety concerns to management.
• Work closely with the sales and yard teams to ensure customer orders are handled accurately and efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a lumber yard, building materials, warehouse, construction, or similar environment is preferred.
• Forklift experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and company policies.
