Yard Coordinator / HC-MC Driver

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Yard Coordinator / HC-MC Driver to join our Dongara operations.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role suited to someone who is comfortable taking ownership of their workday, supporting customers directly and getting involved wherever required. You will coordinate day-to-day yard activities while also operating trucks, forklifts and front-end loaders, managing pipe and casing movements, loading and unloading vehicles and supporting general supply base operations.

Based in Dongara and reporting to the Operations Manager – Perth & Dongara, you will often be required to work independently, prioritise competing requirements and make sound operational decisions without constant supervision.

What your role at ASCO will look like:

• Coordinate and manage day-to-day Dongara yard activities and priorities.
• Act as a key operational contact for customers, drivers and contractors.
• Plan your workload and respond to changing customer and operational requirements.
• Operate ASCO heavy vehicles for local transport and operational requirements.
• Operate forklifts and front-end loaders safely and competently.
• Coordinate and undertake loading and unloading of trucks and equipment.
• Manage the safe handling, movement and storage of pipe, casing and other Oil & Gas materials.
• Ensure loads are correctly restrained and compliant before dispatch.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment pre-start inspections and report defects.
• Maintain safe and efficient yard movements, housekeeping and storage standards.
• Support general supply base and operational activities as required.

These responsibilities bring together the hands-on transport duties in the MC/HC profile and the broader coordination/customer responsibilities in the Dongara Yard Coordinator profile.

What you can bring to ASCO:

• Current HC or MC Driver's Licence – Essential
• Current Forklift Licence – Essential
• Demonstrated experience operating a front-end loader.
• Previous experience handling pipe and casing, ideally within Oil & Gas, drilling or supply base operations.
• Demonstrated experience operating heavy vehicles and safely loading/unloading equipment and materials.
• Strong understanding of load restraint, Chain of Responsibility and safe transport practices.
• Experience within Oil & Gas, resources, transport, logistics or supply base operations.
• Ability to work independently and manage your own time and priorities.
• Confidence dealing directly with customers and responding to operational requirements.
• Strong practical problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
• Good computer skills and ability to use operational/materials management systems.
• Reliable, flexible and willing to assist across different operational activities when required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current HC or MC Driver’s Licence — Essential

• Current Forklift Licence — Essential

• Demonstrated experience operating a front-end loader — required

• Experience operating heavy vehicles and safely loading/unloading materials or equipment

• Knowledge/experience with load restraint, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and safe transport practices

• Experience handling pipe and casing, particularly in Oil & Gas, drilling, or supply-base operations

• Previous Oil & Gas, resources, transport, logistics, or supply-base experience

• Fatigue Management Certificate - Essential

• First Aid Certificate - Desirable

The person we're looking for

This position will suit someone who doesn't need to be continually directed. We are looking for a self-motivated operator who can see what needs to be done, prioritise the work, communicate with the customer and safely get the job done.

You will need to be equally comfortable behind the wheel of a truck, operating equipment, managing pipe and casing in the yard, dealing with customers or coordinating the day's workload.
