Duties

• Safely operate Yard Goat tractors to move trailers within the yard, including loading docks and storage areas
• Connect and disconnect trailers from tractor units efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols
• Conduct pre-trip inspections on Yard Goats, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
• Assist with trailer positioning for loading and unloading freight, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials containers as needed
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, inspections, and yard activities
• Follow GPS navigation systems for route accuracy within the yard and surrounding areas
• Support logistics cargo handling by load & unload operations, ensuring proper securing of dangerous goods or hazardous materials when applicable

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with relevant endorsements for tractor-trailer operation
• Proven experience in truck driving, delivery driving, or yard operations involving freight handling
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and DOT safety standards
• Ability to operate manual transmission trucks and equipment safely
• Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route driving within industrial yards or OTR (Over the Road) routes when required
• Experience with truck loading and unloading procedures for various cargo types such as refrigerated freight or hazardous goods
• Strong manual handling skills for trailer coupling/uncoupling and cargo management
• Excellent safety awareness with a focus on compliance with DOT regulations and hazardous materials handling standards

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
