Yard Hand

Doolee is a leading civil construction company operating across Australia, with offices in WA and NSW, delivering complex, high-quality infrastructure projects across a diverse range of sectors. We are currently seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Hand to join our dynamic team in WA and support the efficient day-to-day operation of our plant and equipment yard.

Position Overview

As a Yard Hand, you will play an important role in maintaining the safe, efficient and organised operation of the plant yard. You will assist with the movement, loading and unloading of equipment and materials, carry out general maintenance and housekeeping, and provide support to mechanics and operators as required. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day operations and general upkeep of the plant and equipment yard.
• Load and unload plant, equipment, materials and deliveries safely and efficiently.
• Carry out general yard maintenance, cleaning and housekeeping to ensure the yard remains safe and well organised.
• Conduct basic inspections and cleaning of machinery, plant and equipment.
• Assist with preparing equipment and materials for mobilisation and project requirements.
• Support mechanics, operators and other team members with general duties as required.
• Operate relevant plant and equipment where appropriately licensed and authorised.
• Identify and report any damaged equipment, hazards or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain the safe storage and organisation of tools, equipment and materials.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Doolee's health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Follow safe work practices and actively contribute to a positive safety culture at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience in a Yard Hand, Labourer or similar hands-on role within construction, civil, mining or a related industry is preferred but not essential.
• Current Australian driver's licence.
• HR Licence highly regarded.
• Telehandler and/or Forklift Licence highly regarded.
• Experience operating plant and equipment will be highly regarded.
• Physically fit and capable of working in an outdoor, hands-on environment.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to completing tasks.
