Yard Operations Manager

This is an 80% hands-on role — you'll be in the thick of it daily while also managing a team of approximately 10 staff, including 2 supervisors. If you lead from the front and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this one's for you. You'll be reporting to the Operations Manager and owner.

Hours & Rate

• $85k - $95k
• Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
• Every second Saturday: 6:00 am – 12:00 pm

What You'll Be Doing

• Review and make recommendations to continuously improve H&S processes, delivering staff inductions and training
• Maintain a high level of customer service skills
• Leading daily yard operations, including loading, unloading, and processing scrap metal
• Managing and supporting your team of supervisors, operators and yardman
• Overseeing rostering, task allocation, and day-to-day workflow
• Acting as the key contact between yard operations and senior management

What We're Looking For

• Experience in a supervisory or management role within Civil, Scrap metal, Timber, Recycling, Manufacturing, or similar
• Strong people leadership with the ability to manage teams and hold people accountable
• A genuine commitment to Health & Safety and safe work practices
• Full NZ Driver's Licence (essential) — forklift licence and/or digger experience an advantage
• A hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude with great communication skills
• Pre-employment drug & alcohol testing required
• Good work references required
