Yard Operative

The successful Yard Operative will play a vital role in the day-to-day operation of the TITAN Containers Bristol depot. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position where you will be responsible for the safe handling, movement, preparation, and storage of containers and equipment. You will work closely with Operations, Transport, Sales, and Customer Service teams to ensure the depot operates efficiently while maintaining TITAN's high standards of safety, service, and quality.

Key Responsibilities Yard Operations and Container Handling

• Operate Container Handlers, Counterbalance Forklifts, and Reach Forklifts safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles in accordance with company procedures.
• Move containers, stock, and equipment safely around the depot and storage areas.
• Prepare containers for customer delivery, ensuring they meet TITAN quality standards.
• Receive, inspect, and store incoming goods, containers, and equipment.
• Assist with container positioning and depot logistics to maximise operational efficiency.

Stock Control and Administration

• Carry out daily stock counts and inventory checks.
• Maintain accurate records of stock movements and container availability.
• Undertake basic computer-based administration and stock management tasks.
• Support the depot team in maintaining accurate operational records.
• Report discrepancies, damages, or stock issues promptly.

Health, Safety and Site Maintenance

• Conduct daily forklift and equipment safety inspections.
• Report any equipment defects, damages, or health and safety concerns.
• Ensure containers and equipment are cleaned, including jet washing where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times.
• Ensure compliance with company health & safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Customer and Driver Support

• Assist customers and drivers with collections and deliveries.
• Provide a professional and helpful service when dealing with customers on site.
• Support colleagues across the depot to ensure customer requirements are met efficiently.
• Contribute to maintaining TITAN's reputation for excellent service and operational standards.

Qualifications

• Good proficiency in English and Maths.
• Counterbalance Forklift Licence desirable.
• Reach Truck Licence advantageous.
• Other relevant plant or material handling qualifications would be beneficial.

Experience

• Previous experience operating forklifts within a warehouse, yard, logistics, construction, or distribution environment.
• Experience handling stock, goods, or equipment in a busy operational setting.
• Experience within container operations, builders' merchants, logistics, transport, or distribution sectors would be advantageous.
• Basic computer skills and experience completing operational records.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements within an industrial environment.

The position is full time, 40 hours per week the working hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
