Yard Supervisor

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Yard Supervisor to lead daily yard and warehouse activities  in Christchurch. Whether you are an experienced supervisor looking for your next challenge or a senior forklift operator ready to step up into leadership, this role offers a fantastic opportunity to drive operational excellence. You will oversee freight movements, supervise staff, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold strict health and safety standards in a modern, dynamic logistics environment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Coordinating daily yard and warehouse operations, including freight handling, stock control, and facility maintenance
• Overseeing the safe loading and unloading of freight, oversized cargo, heavy goods, and bulk materials
• Safely operating heavy materials handling equipment, including high-capacity 16-tonne and 32-tonne forklifts
• Supervising, training, and motivating warehouse and yard personnel to maintain a high-performing team culture
• Utilizing advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to track stock movements and maintain accurate inventory records
• Ensuring strict compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, site rules, and hazard controls
• Managing competing operational priorities independently to meet strict dispatch and transport deadlines
• Liaising with drivers, customers, and internal teams to deliver exceptional customer service

What We’re Looking For

• Current NZ Class 2 Driver’s License (clean record) and current F Endorsement (mandatory)
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in warehousing, freight, transport, or logistics operations
• Proven experience operating commercial forklifts and heavy machinery (16T–32T forklifts)
• Demonstrated experience handling oversized, heavy, or bulk cargo safely
• Background as a Yard/Warehouse Supervisor, Senior Forklift Operator, or a motivated logistics professional ready for leadership
• Strong computer literacy with direct experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
• Excellent understanding of NZ workplace health and safety standards
• Physically fit with fluent written and spoken English skills
• Valid right to work in NZ and ability to pass pre-employment drug, alcohol, and criminal checks
• Bonus Points: Dangerous Goods endorsement, MPI Accredited Person status, or First Aid certification
