Yard Technician

The Yard Technician will report directly to the fleet manager, assistant manager, and foremen. Responsible for the entire yard including the maintenance shop and the nursery. Must be able to follow direction and have common sense. Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs. multiple times throughout the shift, in outdoor elements. Must be able to pass a drug test.

Job duties are as follows:

Maintain Vehicle & Equipment Parking per the Parking Plan

• Company and employee vehicles parked in designated areas.
• Dump chipper trucks, bucket trucks and trailers of debris.
• Fuel company trucks ready for next day.
• Light Equipment maintenance, etc.

Yard Maintenance and Firewood

• Dust control in yard and in shop, keep area clean.
• Keep woodchip area clean and organized.
• Remove logs and sort them in designated area for firewood department.
• Chip debris into chipper and sort out clean woodchips and organic waste.
• Load up trucks for delivery.
• Stack split firewood and load up trucks for deliveries.

Parts Runner

• Swap trucks, trailers, and chippers at job site.
• Drop off and pick up parts for shop.
• Pick up items that are needed.
• Run daily errands as they arise.

Yard Safety

• Reports directly to fleet managers regarding all safety issues in the yard.
• Responsible for yard safety.
• Will work together with the safety team to develop and maintain a yard safety program.

Required:

• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to drive both standard and MANUAL transmissions, including one that is hitched to a trailer.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
• Must be able to work under extreme heat and cold conditions.

Preferred:

• Osha 10
• First aid and CPR certified.
• Knowledge in Tree/Landscape is a plus.

Salary begins at $16 an hour, depending on applicant’s qualifications, and paid weekly. There will be a 90-day probation period, after which there will be a review and possible merit increase.
