Yard Worker

Job Overview

Family owned and operated equipment rental yard seeking a motivated and dependable Yard Worker to join our team. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient yard and dock environment by handling materials, operating heavy equipment, and supporting warehouse operations. Your proactive approach will ensure smooth shipping, receiving, and inventory management processes while adhering to safety protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of our logistics team, contributing to the seamless flow of goods and materials.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload customer vehicles and trailers
• Safely operate heavy machinery such as cranes and forklifts to move materials within the yard
• Performing general/preventive maintenance on all equipment such as generators, pressure washer, air compressors, skidsteers, mini excavators, and lawn equipment.
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders accurately.
• Detect and note any conditions that would affect the safe operation or equipment and bring them to the attention of the shop or store manager.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through regular stock counts and updates in warehouse management systems
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed in compliance with OSHA standards, including proper manual handling and heavy lifting techniques
• Organize the yard, dock, and warehouse space efficiently to facilitate quick access and movement of materials while keeping the area clean and hazard-free

Experience

• Previous warehouse or yard experience is highly preferred, especially with construction equipment, including but not limited to lawn equipment, skidsteers, trenchers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other earth moving equipment.
• Hands-on experience with warehouse operations including order picking, load & unload tasks, and inventory management
• Familiarity with operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and heavy equipment
• Knowledge of safety protocols related to OSHA standards and safe manual handling practices
• Strong basic math skills for measuring, counting, and verifying shipments
• Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 55.0 per week
