STEP UP. BUILD THE TEAM. OWN THE RESULTS.
NOW HIRING: SITE COORDINATORS

YMCA Expanded Learning

Ready to move beyond supporting a program and start leading one?

YMCA Expanded Learning is looking for Site Coordinators who know how to bring out the best in people, create strong systems, and turn an ordinary school day into an exceptional afterschool experience.

You'll take ownership of an elementary or middle school program, lead and develop a team of youth development professionals, and build the relationships that keep your site moving forward. You'll have real responsibility, real challenges to solve, and the opportunity to see the results of your leadership every day.

If you're looking for a role where you can lead people, make decisions, and keep growing as a manager, this may be the opportunity for you.

About YMCA Expanded Learning

We envision a world where every student discovers their purpose and achieves their full potential.

Every day, our programs elevate youth voice through experiences that strengthen leadership, encourage healthy habits, build relationships, and give young people opportunities to discover what they're capable of.

If that sounds like work worth leading, keep reading.

What It Means to Be a Site Coordinator

Your site is your responsibility.

You'll set the tone for how your team works, how students experience the program, how families are welcomed, and how effectively the program operates.

That means being visible. Being organized. Having difficult conversations when they're needed. Recognizing great work when you see it. Solving problems before they become bigger ones. And constantly asking:

How can we make this program better tomorrow than it was today?

Your Leadership in Action

Build a Strong Team

Great programs start with great people—and you'll be responsible for developing yours.

You'll:

  • Lead and supervise a team of program staff
  • Set clear expectations for performance and accountability
  • Coach team members through regular observations and feedback
  • Recognize strengths while addressing performance gaps
  • Onboard and train new employees
  • Build a team culture where people communicate, collaborate, and continue improving

Deliver a Great Program

You'll turn plans into a strong daily experience for students by:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of your school site
  • Creating effective schedules, staff assignments, and program routines
  • Maintaining safe, organized, and welcoming environments
  • Ensuring activities are engaging and developmentally appropriate
  • Supporting staff with student engagement and behavior management
  • Responding quickly when unexpected challenges arise

Make Quality Measurable

Strong leadership requires more than instinct.

You'll use observations, assessments, attendance information, and other program data to understand what's working—and what needs attention.

You'll:

  • Conduct regular program and staff observations
  • Review attendance and other program data
  • Identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Develop strategies to strengthen program quality
  • Follow through to make sure improvements actually happen

Build the Partnerships Behind the Program

You'll serve as one of the primary YMCA leaders at your school site, developing strong working relationships with:

  • School administrators and teachers
  • Students and families
  • Community organizations and program providers
  • YMCA leaders and support teams

You'll communicate proactively, follow through on commitments, and represent the Y with professionalism.

Own the Operation

Leadership also means making sure the details get done.

You'll help manage:

  • Site budgets and program resources
  • Attendance and program documentation
  • Staff schedules and coverage
  • Supplies and operational needs
  • Special events and program initiatives
  • Other projects that help your site and YMCA Expanded Learning succeed

What You Need to QualifyRequired Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience working in youth development
  • At least 1 year of staff supervision or program management experience
  • 48 college units OR a passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to program sites and meetings
  • Ability to successfully clear DOJ/FBI background checks
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certification within 30 days of hire; training is provided

The Leaders Who Succeed Here...

Develop people. You understand that managing isn't just assigning work—it's helping people become better at what they do.

Take ownership. You don't wait for someone else to solve every problem. You assess the situation, make decisions, and follow through.

Stay composed. Expanded learning programs move fast. You can navigate competing priorities, student needs, staffing challenges, and unexpected changes without losing your focus.

Communicate clearly. You can build relationships while still setting expectations and having direct conversations when necessary.

Pay attention to quality. "Good enough" isn't your finish line. You notice where the experience can improve and take action.

Stay organized. You can keep people, schedules, deadlines, communication, data, and program needs moving at the same time.

Keep learning. You seek feedback, reflect on your leadership, and want to become a stronger manager than you were yesterday.

Benefits That Support You

As a full-time YMCA team member, you'll have access to:

  • Free YMCA gym membership
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • YMCA retirement plan
  • Ongoing leadership coaching and professional training
  • Hands-on opportunities to strengthen your management skills
  • Career pathways to continue growing within the YMCA

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential job functions and supervise program activities
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Frequent standing and bending
  • Ability to walk for extended periods
  • Visual ability to effectively supervise indoor and outdoor activities
  • Mobility necessary to respond quickly in emergency situations

THIS COULD BE YOUR NEXT LEADERSHIP MOVE.

This isn't a role where you'll spend your day watching from the sidelines.

You'll lead a team. Make decisions. Solve problems. Build partnerships. Develop people. And create a program students want to come back to tomorrow.

Along the way, we'll invest in your growth through coaching, training, feedback, and opportunities to take on greater leadership.

If you're ready to own the responsibility that comes with leading a school site—and the impact that comes with doing it well—we want to meet you.
