Youth Director

St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Yorktown, VA, is seeking a Youth Director for our youth ministry (Grades 6–12). This ministry will foster spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental growth for the youth.

Responsibilities

• Program Development: The position oversees all aspects of the Youth Ministries during Sunday services and church events, ensuring the creation of a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment where youth can engage with applicable lessons.
• Administration: Develop, propose, and manage appropriate administrative duties of Youth Director including budget, plans and communication
• Volunteer Recruitment & Management: Recruit, train, equip, and support a community of dedicated volunteers for the Youth Ministry.
• Outreach & Timely Communication: Maintain a culture of transparency and trust by keeping families and staff informed through frequent, transparent communication.

Qualifications

• Faith Commitment: A professing Christian with a willingness to support the theology of the United Methodist Church.
• Experience: Preferred experience working with youth (ages 11–18) in a ministry or mentorship capacity.
• Core Competencies: Organizational skills, ability to manage a budget, self-motivated, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Clearance: Must submit to a background check and complete UMC Safe Sanctuaries/Safe Gatherings training.
• Transportation: Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required for transporting youth to events.
• Age: Preferred to be at least 23 years of age in order to comply with SLUMC policy. Exceptions may apply.
