About ICYO

Inner City Youth Opportunities (ICYO) is a Cincinnati nonprofit dedicated to providing youth in under-resourced communities with academic support, mentorship, and enriching experiences that foster growth, confidence, and opportunity.

Through our year-round programming, we help young people build the skills, relationships, and confidence they need to succeed in school, life, and their communities.

About the Position

ICYO is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Youth Program Support Specialist to join our team!

This position combines youth development, transportation, and daily program support. You'll help students travel safely to and from programming, participate in engaging activities, and build positive relationships with the young people and families we serve.

Each Youth Program Support Specialist works with an assigned group of students, helping coordinate transportation, communicate with families, and ensure students feel safe, supported, and connected.

This is a hands-on position that requires driving ICYO's passenger vans. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Student Safety

  • Safely operate ICYO passenger vans to transport students.
  • Maintain accurate student rosters and pickup/drop-off records.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report safety concerns.
  • Follow transportation policies and student safety procedures.

Youth Development & Program Support

  • Supervise students during transportation, activities, and meals.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students and families.
  • Assist with academic enrichment, recreation, and youth development.
  • Support positive behavior and maintain a welcoming environment.
  • Encourage student responsibility, engagement, and growth.

Communication & Operations

  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding assigned students.
  • Maintain attendance records, transportation logs, and incident reports.
  • Assist with daily program setup, cleanup, and organization.
  • Participate in required staff meetings and professional development.
  • Collaborate with program staff to support daily operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate passenger vans.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.
  • Experience working with youth or relevant transferable experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Availability to work Monday–Thursday afternoons and evenings.

Preferred

  • Experience in youth development, education, or after-school programs.
  • Experience transporting youth or operating passenger vans.
  • Experience communicating with parents and guardians.
  • CPR/First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid, or Trauma-Informed Care certification (or willingness to obtain).

Compensation & Advancement

Starting Pay: $21.00/hour

ICYO offers a structured compensation pathway that recognizes employee performance, professional growth, and increased responsibility.

  • Level I: $21.00/hour — Starting wage
  • Level II: $22.50/hour — Eligible for consideration following a successful 90-day performance evaluation
  • Level III: $23.50/hour — Eligible for consideration following one year of employment

Advancement is performance-based and subject to demonstrated qualifications and organizational needs.

Why Join ICYO?

At ICYO, you'll be part of a small, dedicated team working directly with Cincinnati youth and families. You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, contribute to a supportive learning environment, and play an important role in helping students thrive.
