What they need

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, efficient, and detail-oriented YouTube Video Editor to join a growing digital media team. This is a full-time, remote, backend role focused primarily on editing YouTube content for clients across a variety of industries.

The ideal candidate is a strong executor who can take clear editing instructions and consistently turn raw footage into clean, polished, and engaging videos. You do not need to develop the overall YouTube strategy, as the strategy and creative direction will already be provided. Your primary responsibility is to execute that direction accurately, efficiently, and on time.

As the business continues to scale, there may also be opportunities to grow within the role and potentially support or lead additional video editors in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit YouTube videos based on established instructions, guidelines, and workflows.
  • Clean up raw footage by removing filler words, unnecessary pauses, mistakes, and other unwanted sections.
  • Add on-screen text and other basic visual elements to improve clarity and viewer experience.
  • Produce clean, professional, and engaging final video content.
  • Follow established editing styles, processes, templates, and brand requirements for different clients.
  • Manage multiple video editing projects while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain quality and consistency while working efficiently at a relatively high production volume.
  • Organize video files, project assets, and completed deliverables.
  • Communicate internally with the team regarding assignments, feedback, revisions, and deadlines.
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions quickly and accurately.
  • Adapt editing styles based on the needs of clients from different industries.
  • Learn and integrate into the company's existing video production system and workflow.
  • Potentially assist with onboarding, coordinating, or managing additional video editors as the team grows.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in video editing, preferably for YouTube or similar long-form digital content.
  • Working knowledge of YouTube content and general best practices.
  • Experience using video editing software such as Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or comparable editing platforms.
  • Ability to perform clean, straightforward edits efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when cutting dialogue and adding text.
  • Ability to follow established instructions and creative direction.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple videos and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Comfortable learning and working within an established editing system and workflow.
  • Able to work independently in a remote environment.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Deadline-driven: Consistently delivers assigned videos on or before agreed deadlines.
  • High-performing: Comfortable maintaining a strong level of productivity without sacrificing quality.
  • Fast and efficient: Able to edit a steady volume of videos and work effectively as demand increases.
  • Adaptable: Willing to learn and integrate into an existing workflow rather than insisting on doing things only according to their preferred process.
  • Coachability: Open to feedback, revisions, and established creative direction.
  • Reliable: Can be trusted to manage assigned projects independently and consistently.
  • Growth-oriented: Comfortable working in a growing organization and potentially taking on additional responsibilities as the editing team expands.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with multiple brands, clients, or industries.
  • Experience working in a high-volume video production environment.
  • Previous experience coordinating or mentoring other video editors.
  • Interest in eventually progressing into a Lead Video Editor or Video Editing Team Lead role.

Work Setup

  • Employment Type: Full-time
  • Location: Remote
  • Schedule: Flexible
  • Time Zone Requirement: None
  • Client-Facing: No
  • Communication: Primarily with the internal team

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means consistently producing accurate, polished video edits on schedule while following the team's established processes and creative direction. The strongest candidate will be someone the team can depend on to take an assignment, understand the requirements, execute efficiently, and deliver quality work without requiring extensive oversight.

As the company's video editing needs grow, strong performance in this role may also create opportunities to take on greater responsibility within the video production team.
