Team Lead Security Architecture

SUMMARY 

The Team Lead Security Architects is responsible for defining and maintaining the organization’s security architecture framework (Security Standards and Domain Architecture Security), ensuring that cybersecurity principles are consistently embedded across IT and business initiatives and that the Security Architecture is effective and cost-efficient. 

The role combines strategic direction, governance leadership, and hands-on architectural oversight to guarantee that solutions align with risk management standards, regulatory requirements, and enterprise architecture objectives. 

The Team Lead structures and guides the Security Architecture Team, ensuring coherence across projects, mentoring junior and medior architects, and fostering collaboration between the CISO Office, Enterprise Architecture, and operational domains. This position plays a key role in ensuring that architectural decisions are risk-informed, business-aligned, and technically sound, supporting the organization’s overall cybersecurity resilience and compliance ambitions.

CONFORMITY CRITERIA 

1. Professional Experience 

• • Minimum 10 years of experience in ICT 

• • Minimum 6 years specifically in Security Architecture and Risk Management. 

2. Education and Certifications 

• • Minimum Master’s degree (in Computer Science, Natural Sciences or Economics) 

• • Possession of at least two high-level security certifications, such as: o (ISC)² CCSP 

• o (ISC²) CISSP 

• o CSA CCSK or CCZT 

3. Language, Availability & Location 

• Fluent in both French and English or Dutch and English, capable of producing documentation and leading meetings in both languages.

EVALUATION CRITERIA (Mandatory Selection Criteria – Team Lead Security Architects) 

1. Professional Experience 

• • Proven hands-on and strategic experience in designing and implementing security frameworks and standards (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST). 

• • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into security architecture solutions and risk-based decisions. 

• • Experience in large or complex organizations with multi-stakeholder governance (e.g. transport, energy, finance, or public sector). 

• • Demonstrated leadership experience in coordinating, mentoring, and structuring a team of security architects, ensuring role clarity, balanced workload, and alignment with enterprise architecture and CISO objectives. 

• • Proven experience in establishing or contributing to security architecture governance processes, including design authorities and risk-based review mechanisms. 

2. Technical & Framework Competence 

• • Demonstrable mastery of ISO/IEC 27001 and related 2700x standards. 

• • Strong working knowledge of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and NIST SP 800-series guidelines. 

• • Experience performing or guiding risk assessments and implementing cloud and enterprise security controls. 

• • Proven understanding of enterprise architecture principles (e.g. SABSA, TOGAF, or equivalent), with the ability to integrate security into business and technical architecture layers. 

3. Education and Certifications 

• • Additional specific certification is considered a plus, such as for example: o ISACA CISM or CRISC 

• o ISO/IEC 27001 

• o ISO/IEC 42001 

• o AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner 

• o or other
